Sepsis fund raising campaign reaches £25,000 following generous donation from local business

A charity campaign set up to raise £50,000 for Sepsis UK following the tragic death of a work colleague, has reached the half-way mark following its latest donation of over £7,000.

Newcastle based business Drummond Central set up the fund raising campaign in memory of their work colleague Jess McEnroe, who sadly lost her life to Sepsis aged just 26 years old in 2017 and following its latest donation has now reached an amazing £25,000.

Swalwell based  PK Motors held a charity golf day at Northumberland’s prestigious Matfen Hall golf course attended by local businesses and the fund raising was bolstered by a raffle and auction and a personal Just Giving page, the final figure reaching an impressive total of over £7,000.

Dan Appleby, Managing Director of Drummond Central, said, “Sepsis is a charity close to our hearts after we lost our wonderful friend and colleague, J-Mac. Paul, PK Motors and everyone connected to the fundraising golf day have done more than we could have hoped for to help us reach our £50,000 target and we are so very grateful for their efforts and support.

“We still have an active programme of on-going events including staff taking part in the Great North run in September and we won’t stop until we have hit our £50,000 target.” he added.

Paul Keighley, owner of PK Motors, said, “We are all delighted to support this amazing fund raising campaign set up in memory of  Jess.

“Sepsis is a terrible illness and can strike at anytime. It’s truly inspirational that we had so many businesses and customers taking part in the golf day and contributing their hard earned money to this worthwhile cause.

“We all had a fabulous days golf and I wish to thank everyone that took part, contributed to my Just Giving page and helped to organise the day.”

Bernard Bloodworth, Managing Director, Matfen Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa said, “We were delighted to host this event one of the busiest golf day in our calendar, and it was very pleasing to see so many teams turn out for this worthwhile cause. ”
